Top 5 Reasons to Work with Redefining Roots

When it comes to creating medication management plans, there are a lot of different options. Clients can work with a general practitioner. They can work with psychiatrists or other professionals who are authorized to write prescriptions within their therapy practice, or clients can partner with a practice, like Redefining Roots, that focuses solely on medication management. Each option has benefits, and no solution is right for every person. In this blog, we explore the top five reasons our clients give for choosing Redefining Roots for psychiatric medication management, and we’re always here to help potential clients who have questions or want to find out more about what we do

1 – We Take the Time to Get to Know the Individual – Not a Diagnosis

The Redefining Roots team believes that medication management is actually a collaborative process. We are experts in understanding how medications and other treatment options can benefit mental and behavioral health and overall wellness, but our clients are the one and only expert on who they are and what they need. That’s why our initial intake session (or sessions) is extensive. We invest a significant amount of time getting to know our client’s current situation and concerns, past experiences with therapy and psychiatric medications, as well as learning more about overall health and wellness. We really listen and get to know our clients’ needs.

2 – We Create Individualized Plans

For many practitioners, medication management means following a specific set of norms and prescribing based on what typically works. We believe our medication management plans should be as unique as the individuals we’re working with. No client is like anyone else, and they don’t need the exact prescription as everyone else. Being able to offer completely customized medication recommendations is one of the many benefits of taking the time in the initial session or sessions to really get to know the people we’re working with.

3 – We Regularly Evaluate & Readjust Plans

When clients first begin taking medication, we may want them to visit with us frequently. This allows us to collaborate with people as they begin to feel the effects of medications and determine if the medication and dosage are working. If they’re not, we make adjustments. We do everything we can to provide the right recommendations at the beginning, but we are always willing to adjust as necessary to meet the individual’s needs. Once we and the client feel that their medication management plan is right for them, we still want to schedule periodic follow up visits to touch base and continue making changes as necessary to ensure the client continues to achieve their therapy goals.

4 – Clients May Not Need a Prescription

Many people avoid working with a provider who offers medication management because they don’t really want to take psychiatric medications. At Redefining Roots, we won’t always give our clients a prescription on their way out the door. We take the time to assess the individual situation and determine whether or not a medication is the right option. We also highly respect our clients’ opinions. If clients don’t want to take medications or had bad experiences in the past, we want to hear about it, and we always take that into consideration before making our final recommendations.

5 – We Care About the Whole Person

We think of holistic wellness as including three elements: emotional and mental wellness, physical health, and spiritual fulfillment. The Redefining Roots team most closely helps to support mental health goals, but we truly believe in taking a holistic approach and also want to ensure clients are maintaining physical and spiritual wellbeing. That means we consider the physical health of the whole person. Can the client make changes to their whole body health that will compliment and accelerate their work in therapy? Our clinicians can help individuals better understand overall health and wellness and how it plays a part in therapy progress. Additionally, we encourage people to develop spiritual fulfillment. This isn’t about religion. Instead, spiritual fulfillment about a greater sense of connection to the world, increased self-worth, and greater resilience in dealing with the unknown.
